AMERICAN CROSSROADS THEATRE ANNOUNCES AUDITIONS FOR:
Blithe Spirit
by Noël Coward
A séance gone delightfully wrong sets the stage for Noël Coward’s sparkling comedy Blithe Spirit. When a novelist accidentally summons the ghost of his mischievous first wife, chaos—and laughter—ensue. Witty, stylish, and irresistibly fun, this classic comedy is a supernatural treat.

Auditions will be held at the Heritage Center Theatre basement rooms on July 27th from 4:00 – 8:00 pm, 105 N 100 E, Cedar City. No appointment necessary. Come with a 1-minute monologue that shows your ability to handle high language and a British accent.
Roles include:
CHARLES CONDOMINE: Lead – Male: 38-45. A successful novelist and socialite, Charles is charming, witty, turns every situation to his advantage and doesn’t seem overly concerned by any turn of events. Well-spoken, RP English accent, 1940s upper middle class.
RUTH CONDOMINE: Lead – Female: 33-40. Ruth is practical, has a no-nonsense approach and is blunt to the point of rudeness. She is the impeccable English hostess. Well-spoken, RP English accent, 1940s upper middle class.
ELVIRA CONDOMINE: Lead – Female: 26-33. The ‘Blithe Spirit’ of the title, Elvira is delightful, passionate, carefree and fun. She is also morally questionable, manipulative and petulant. There is an ethereal quality to her and a 1920’s feel. Well-spoken, RP English accent.
MADAME ARCATI: Lead – Female: 50+. Madame Arcati is wildly eccentric but astute, with a physicality belying her appearance. She is an effusive, robust English countrywoman. Well-spoken, RP English accent.
DR. GEORGE BRADMAN: Supporting – Male: 28-65. A kindly doctor who can be seriously boring about his medical research. Dr Bradman is a joker who is skeptical about the occult. Well-spoken, any British accent.
MRS. VIOLET BRADMAN: Supporting – Female: 25-60. Violet frequently puts her foot in it and is somewhat silly and excitable. She is a well-meaning person. Well-spoken, any British accent.
EDITH: Supporting – Female: 16+. Edith is an inexperienced and nervous maid who does everything in a flurry. She is naïve and simple. Any British accent.
Blithe Spirit will play at the Heritage Center Theater in Cedar City, October 14-16. It may also play in Washington, Utah the following week or sometime before Halloween. That will be determined shortly. Rehearsals will begin September 2nd in the evenings (perhaps during the day on Saturdays depending on the cast’s preference.) Most rehearsals will be held in St. George until we move into the theater for tech and dress rehearsals.
